The construction of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic High School is moving forward with remarkable progress. Our dedicated Masonry contractor is diligently constructing walls on the 3rd floor east section, and we anticipate its completion by the end of this week. This marks a significant milestone as we prepare for the next phases of the project.

The upcoming week holds another crucial task as our Masonry contractor is set to build walls on the 2nd floor west. To ensure a seamless continuation of this process, it’s essential that all steel lintels are onsite. These lintels are vital for the structural integrity of the building and the masonry work that follows. This strategic approach will optimize efficiency and quality.

We have strategically decided not to pursue the construction of concrete bond beams. Instead, our focus remains on the construction progress of the walls and the subsequent steps that will contribute to the building’s overall structural soundness.

Excitingly, the installation of precast elements for the 4th floor east is scheduled to take place as soon as the current phase is complete. This signifies a major step forward in the project, allowing our Masonry contractor to continue building walls with the support of the new precast structure.

Looking ahead, the first week of October marks a significant milestone as we prepare for the installation of Open Web Steel Joists. This step will play a pivotal role in the building’s framework.

We are also keen on progress in other crucial areas. The windows on the east side of the building are scheduled for punch installation, enhancing the building’s aesthetics and functionality. Furthermore, our aim is to achieve water-tightness before the Christmas season, a goal that signifies substantial progress.

Addressing other concerns, we are aware of the temporary halt in work in the rear fields and parking area. However, if we reach subgrade levels, our electrician is poised to initiate wiring for the parking area lighting. This proactive approach will ensure that as soon as the wiring is complete, we can proceed with concrete curb and sidewalk construction, followed by the base layer of asphalt before the closure of asphalt plants in December.
